Gifted with an extremely melodious voice, Kalpana zokarkar has studiously developed the ‘Taan Ang’ for which her Gharana is famous. Her highly imaginative combinations of ‘Swaras’ are pleasing and appealing to knowledgeable listeners as well as to those not formally initiated in the intricacies of classical music. She has an equal command over the classical and the light classical styles of music. She renders ‘Khayal’ as well as ‘Thumari’, ‘Tappa’ and ‘Bhajan’ with equal authority. Kalpana received training and guidance from Shri Krishna Rao Mujumdar, Mrs.Sushila Pohankar, and Shri.V.U.Rajurkar.
